Axios morning email thingie tells us that Comrade Preznint Stupid’s transition team plans to ask Robert Mueller to return many tens of thousands of transition emails that they claim were unlawfully provided to him. (This seems like a good time to remind everyone that emails from work are the property of your employer, not of the sender nor of the receiver. Thanks, GOP!)
Comrade Stupid’s lawyer Kory Langhofer is trying to question impropriety/corruption of Mueller’s team for doing their job. Noted Trump superfan Sean Hannity (and the rest of
Pravda Fox News) is trying to amplify those questions and rile up the base. (To do what, exactly?)
So other than proving to the rest of us that Mueller has hit a nerve, all Langhofer seems to be asking is for legislation to prevent this from happening again in the future. That’s not exactly winning the argument that something illegal already occurred, but nice try!
All together now: “BUT HIS EMAILS!!1!”
UPDATE 1: Politico
“Mueller spokesman Peter Carr defended the special counsel’s work in a statement issued just past midnight on Sunday, several hours after this story first posted. ‘When we have obtained emails in the course of our ongoing criminal investigation, we have secured either the account owner’s consent or appropriate criminal process,’ he said. A GSA spokesperson could not be immediately reached for comment.” http://politi.co/2Bxly1Q
