Updated x4: Activism: Saving the ACA: Now is the Time to Act

speakyourmindThe R’s are going to try to ram their wealth redistribution plan through the Senate.

Call your R’s Senators, every one of them.

Call them multiple times before 2:00PM Eastern today.

Our advantage is our numbers. When we fight, we win.

We’ve done it before, we’ve done it all year. In 10 months not one onerous bill has been passed out of the Senate thanks to the activist base of leftists making phone calls to the right people at the right time.

The time for us to rule is now.

Do it for yourself, your brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, children and grandchildren.

Keep the pressure on.

Hammer the message home.

  • Keyword: Oppose The Republican Tax Plan

  • Keyword: Denounce sexual harassers, predators, child molesters and rapists.

Please, make the calls. It helps even if you just leave a VM at five o’clock in the morning.

Phone Calls Work!

Each of us must fight to win the right to fight again, another day.

Get to work, make the calls, talk to the people we need to make a difference.

O-

Is it just me or does it feels like we’re fighting cartoon villains these days?

It’s going to be a long day. From dKos…

Call grandma! Republicans openly say tax-scam bill is path to gutting Social Security/Medicare.

First up is Marco Rubio, who said out loud what was supposed to be hush-hush.

Update: And the Toddler-in-Chief is taunting Kim Jong-un. There’s nothing quite like the threat of a Nuclear Apocalypse to help get your tax cut passed , now is there?

Or is it a distraction from the Mueller’s investigation?
Or a distraction from the sexual harassers, child molesters, predators, rapists, sleaze-balls and dirt-bags that are the GOP?

Heed the warnings of Bush Fatigue. I think its their strategy – divide and conquer.

Focus, make the calls.

Keep the pressure on.

Hammer the message home.

Update x2: A cage match: Orcs vs Trolls vs The Corrupt Bastards Club.

From The Hill…

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said early Thursday that she expects legislation to lower health-care premiums to pass Congress before senators take a final vote on a $1.5 trillion tax-reform bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate.

Collins, speaking to reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast, said it’s a mistake to scrap the individual mandate without making other reforms to the health-care system.

“When you take out that one provision from the ACA it causes premiums to go up as healthier, younger people leave the market place,” she said.

Update x3: There’s no White Night coming to save us – get your pitchforks, and torches. Make the calls to each and every R Senator, please.

Regardless of anything they say, you’ve heard or read hit them again, harder and in the exact same place.

Again, The Hill…

McCain a yes on tax reform, boosting Republicans

Update x4 It’s even worse… From The Hill…

The Senate GOP tax bill won’t produce enough economic growth to fully pay for its tax cuts, the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) said in an analysis released Thursday.

The bill’s macroeconomic effects would reduce the deficit by $408 billion over 10 years, but the bill overall would still cost about $1 trillion, the JCT said.

The JCT had earlier estimated that the bill would lose $1.4 trillion in federal revenue before accounting for economic growth.

They’re trying to push this POS bill through as fast as they can beasue they know every hour they delay is another hour for us to pressure our Senators and that we’ll win.

Make the calls – Leave VM’s at 3:00 AM. Don’t bother w/ emails they’ll be ignored.

Robert Bradway, chief executive of Amgen Inc., said in an Oct. 25 earnings call that the company has been “actively returning capital in the form of growing dividend and buyback and I’d expect us to continue that.” Executives including Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey, Pfizer Chief Financial Officer Frank D’Amelio and Cisco CFO Kelly Kramer have recently made similar statements. “We’ll be able to get much more aggressive on the share buyback” after a tax cut, Kramer said in a Nov. 16 interview.

Yes, the only people who are saying this shit sandwich will create jobs is the R’s in congress.

(Oh, and the Russian Puppet, but he’ll repeat anything he’s told. Anything he’s told. (e.g. Intelligence from Israel to Russian on Camera.))

I need to note here: I’ve been calling, and am continuing to call. I’ve been able to leave 3 voicemails with Sen. Moran, 2 with Sen. Roberts. For the past 3 days, both mailboxes have been full, and I’ve had to hang up. And try again. Others in red states with Republican Senators and Representatives are likely experiencing the same thing. I plan to call Kansas’s out on Twitter this weekend.

I saw on TPM that the vote is expected later today or early tomorrow, so I went ahead and used Twitter just now. I try to be careful during the week because I work at a public school, but it’ll be fine. Those SOBs.

I hope it’s because they’re being slammed rather than giving the people the old FU.

You’re senator is really name Moran? (eye-roll)

Yep, it’s Jerry Moran. 🙂 🙂 Don’t think I haven’t gotten a good laugh every time I see that meme with the poster calling people morans… 🙂 🙂 The other one is Pat Roberts, who famously once put Patrick Henry on his head by telling us we don’t have any civil liberties if we’re dead (to explain his vote on USA PATRIOT.)
Personally, I’d think they can afford to keep a person in the office to keep the voicemail box clear. I’ve been an admin. assistant for far less money than I’m certain the senators’s aides make, and I could do it. But maybe I’m just crabby because I’m taxed without representation. 😉

Thank you MPS contributors for alerting me to the ACA open enrollment. I signed up today for health insurance. I left a job earlier this year (with good health benefits) because staying in that job was untenable (for health reasons…there is some irony for you). I am now 62, eligible for SS benefits, but still had no health coverage for the most of this year. When this topic (ACA open enrollment) showed up on this and other sites, I knew I had to do something, if I could afford it. I recently received enough info to document my future SS income, so I went to a insurance agent qualified to advise for ACA.

I chose a silver plan that cost me $0 in premiums. It actually has better coverage than I had at UF. I did not expect that. (FL is not a medicaid expansion state, so this part of the reason for my surprise).

    Thank you all.

Will call my senators and congressperson soon.
