Happy Hour News Briefs

Junk shot:

WASHINGTON — Ennis Rep. Joe Barton apologized Wednesday for a sexually explicit photo now circulating online, but he doesn’t plan to resign.

In a statement released to The Dallas Morning News, the longtime Republican lawmaker said the image — which first surfaced on social media earlier this week — was taken in recent years while separated from his former wife.

“While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women,” Barton, who is twice-divorced, said in the statement. “Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”

…and that’s when I clicked close, afraid that the picture itself might be out there somewhere. On a good day, Barton looks like undercooked pork, and I cannot go any farther than that in a family blog.

But at least he had the sense to stress that his, um, hetaera were adult women.

We are now at the point where Republicans need that disclaimer: “my extra-marital relationship was with an adult woman.”

Good to know.

I want to vomit thinking that a naked Joe Barton is a dish better served cold.

But, seriously, that’s where the report went? Blame the person who received that text instead of the shithead who sent it? He knew what he was doing. He’s not some dumb teenager who didn’t think out the consequences of sending out a naked picture of him/herself. If someone is of age and of sound mind and whose phone was not hacked sent out a naked picture of him/herself, then the person who gets it should be allowed to do whatever s/he wants to do with it.

The real story is that this is another member of the party that says they represent family values. I hope Barton’s grandchildren are proud of Grandpa Joe’s text.

Not surprising, really. He is a typical Republican swine, after all. The one thing that did surprise me was that he bothered to apologize to his “constituents.” I really don’t think Big Oil cares what this pig does in his off time.

I caught a snippet of MSNBC last night and to paraphrase what Ennis, I mean Rep. Joe Barton said “…there were pictures and videos of….”
    Videos? Plural?
Can’t wait for that court case to play out.

Separated or divorced, don’t the “Family Values” Evangelicals say playing “Burying the weasel” outside of holy matrimony is wrong…?

Juanita Jean had the pic, but I’m not going looking for it again (ugh!).
