Labor Day 2017

Archive: Trump’s Workforce Development Week!

Happy Labor Day, Scissorheads. It’s the end of what I think of as American cultural summer, but not the astronomical summer which of course is the Autumnal Equinox, which is Friday September 22 at exactly 1:02 PM here on the west coast. You have my permission to continue to wear white shoes until then. But they must come off by 1:02 PM. No exceptions!

where’d he keep the batteries for that belt?

(And gents: there is no excuse for colorful belts, ever. Aaron Schock has proven this rule is absolute. Side note: growing up in SF Bay Area, white shoes and matching belt was called a Full Cleveland. ‘Nuff said.)

I hope everyone is enjoying all the usual nostrums for Labor Day: beach outings, pool parties, barbecue, and I also hope everyone takes a moment to acknowledge that without Union Labor, we would not have weekends bracketing our (alleged) 40-hour work weeks at all. Please thank the unions as you toast the end of summer.

Join ’em if you got ’em. And Meanwhile, read O’s post on the backstory of Labor Day. Great, good stuff.

    Here’s a classic:

Labor before capital . . . in a just world.
