There’s a lot not normal today, but let’s begin with a reminder that most/many people saw Preznint Stupid’s pardon of noted concentration camp and white enthusiast Sheriff Joe Arpaio to be a test run of pardoning potential co-conspirators in the ongoing Little Kremlin-on-the-Potomac investigation. But as we often note, Comrade Preznint Stupid is playing checkers while his arch nemesis Robert Mueller is playing chess:
The cooperation is the latest indication that the federal probe into President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman is intensifying. It also could potentially provide Mueller with additional leverage to get Manafort to cooperate in the larger investigation into Trump’s campaign, as Trump does not have pardon power over state crimes.
And that is probably the game right there. Your move, Comrade Stupid.
UPDATE 1: Comarade Preznint REALLY Stupid made his move (I screen captured this in case he deletes it) (Oops, I just saw the date stamp, it’s from the way-back machine, my bad!)
It’s Thursday. Which brand of eyeliner is the nation’s worst AG @AGSchneiderman wearing today?

Next up, we look to see exciting news coming out of Texas (and not Harvey related at all):
A federal judge late Wednesday temporarily blocked most of Texas’ tough new “sanctuary cities” law that would have let police officers ask people during routine stops whether they’re in the U.S. legally and threatened sheriffs with jail time for not cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
We worry that this will embolden Hair Führer to cancel DACA and boxcar (is too a verb!) about a million dreamers out of the country. AG Jefferson Beauregard ‘Stonewall’ Sessions III is not surprisingly all in favor of it. Per Axios morning email thingie:
Ending DACA could put 700,000 jobs at risk, according to research released yesterday by FWD.us, a pro-immigration reform group co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg, and the Center for American Progress, with data from the Cato Institute.
Trump has faced an escalating revolt from CEOs — starting with the Muslim ban, increasing with his climate-change decision, and peaking with his handling of Charlottesville. Scores of high profile CEOs would pummel him publicly if he clears the way for mass deportation of kids.
The Harvey catastrophe in the border state of Texas make the optics of the decision even more brutal for the White House. So some top Republicans increasingly hope Trump, who was inclined to back his attorney general, will find a less drastic way to fend off conservative legal challenges to the program.
Lots’a luck with that one, fellas. You tell the Orange Menace to not do something (“Don’t look at the eclipse!”) and he is almost assuredly gonna do it. He’s just that stupid.
Which leads us to our next Not Normal: his cabinet is revolting:
The U.S. has been talking to North Korea, and paying them extortion money, for 25 years. Talking is not the answer!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 30, 2017
“We are never out of diplomatic solutions,” Mattis told reporters, just hours after Trump said in a tweet that “talking is not the answer” to the standoff over North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.
His public contradiction of Trump’s position came a day after the Pentagon chief, a retired four-star Marine general, appeared to delay implementation of Trump’s decision to ban transgender people from enlisting in the military.
Thank Gawd, Preznint Pussy Grabber still has the overwhelming support of The Skirts… what’s that you say?
The War on Women continues:
President Trump is shelving a proposal from the Obama administration requiring large employers to report salary data based on sex and race, which would have enabled the federal government to crack down on pay disparities between men and women.
The White House Office of Management and Budget notified the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Tuesday that it has decided to “stay” and review the proposed regulation, which was issued by President Barack Obama last September.
First daughter Ivanka Trump, who made wage equality and workplace protections for women one of her signature issues on the campaign trail and in her personal brand, declared her support for the White House’s announcement Tuesday that it will halt a proposal requiring businesses to disclose employees’ pay, gender, race and ethnicity.
Oh, and Preznint Stupid may have violated Federal Law when he brayed about this woman needing to be You’re Fired’ed:
“She must do this for you, and if [Sen. Claire McCaskill) doesn’t do it for you, you have to vote her out of office,” Trump declared to uproarious applause. “We just can’t do this anymore with the obstruction and the obstructionists.”
And we will conclude with Tiger Beat, who breathlessly tells us in the morning email thingie:
SPOTTED — GARY COHN with two other gentlemen and a bottle of red wine sitting outside at Fiola Mare just hours after the president failed to mention him in his tax reform speech.
