Talking ‘Bout The Weather

It blows.

Texas seems to have survived the wind (yay!), and now comes the rain (boo!), and the distraction that Comrade Preznint Stupid was hoping to cover him on Friday didn’t work.

First, the storm (Axios morning email thingie gives us the Texas headlines):

  • NYT: Now blamed for a least 5 deaths.
  • “Key oil and gas facilities along the Texas Gulf Coast … temporarily shut down, … virtually assuring gasoline prices will rise in the storm’s aftermath.” (AP)
  • Houston Chronicle banner: “STATE OF DESTRUCTION.” See the page.
  • Weather Channel banner: “Days of Dangerous Flooding Ahead.”
  • Wall Street Journal: The federal government’s “National Flood Insurance Program could be inundated with billions of new claims … Yet the U.S. program is scheduled to expire on Sept. 30 and has just $5.8 billion left it can borrow from the Treasury to meet new claims,” and $25 billion in debt from earlier storms.
  • “Harvey plays havoc with people living on the margins,” by Reuters’ Brian Thevenot in Corpus Christi: “[A] natural disaster can make life desperate for those on the margins of society.”

…and now the shit-storm:

Hair Führer Donald Trump’s Friday’s news dump was so obvious and so clearly using human tragedy for political cover that he’s attracted fire from his enemies and friendly fire from his, well, enemies. The vulgar talking yam has no friends.

Former RNC Chair Michael Steele: “I can’t figure out crazy anymore.”

We note for pure form, we would have used Weak! Sad! but we’re traditionalist that way. We could also include the many, Many, MANY disapproving tweets from us ordinary American Janes and Joes, but there is not enough room for that.

Even Zombie-eyed Granny-starver Paul Ryan sent out an underling (probably wearing a red shirt) to say that ZEGS disapproved of the Pardon.

“The speaker does not agree with this decision,” and that, “Law enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States; We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon.”

A real portrait in courage that one.

The Washington Examiner:  “Trump, once the law and order candidate, embraces lawless disorder with Arpaio pardon.”

In other words, he’s lost the loonies and the Moonies.

But on a predictable note, expect another Shitler appearance before a MAGA lynch mob in a safe non-inundated part of TexAs, when the next stinking, corrupt amoral atrocity hits WhoreMedia. I’d say Wednesday,

  2. C Montgomery Burns says:

It’s as if he couldn’t let someone or something claim the headlines for a single day.
An awful event he had to top with a more heinous one, I mean 2.

Wasn’t the trans ban originally issues because he felt that medical treatment was too expensive even though it turned out to be less costly than say, Secret Service protection paying for golf cart rentals?
