Blog Whoring Today

Reminder: Do Not Use This Picture of Trump. Tell a friend. Let’s wipe out the usage of this picture in our lifetimes.

This essay on Trump in The Baffler is probably the funniest thing I’ve read all week.

Please enjoy it.

  1. Brad in Dallas says:

I’m confused, how is this funny? It’s grimly, tragically well-observed and accurate. It’s (to our shame) an acutely observed portrait of a narcissist which half our countrymen believed would be the right leader for our nation. It’s a psychological portrait of a waste of human flesh, who is somehow nightmarishly in charge. It makes me want to start drinking at noon.

  2. At it’s core that is less funny ‘ha ha’ and more funny ‘ha ha…oh now I have to go drink heavily because we’re all going to die aren’t we, and I don’t know anyone named Ford Prefect with an electronic thumb. Guess I’ll sob into my towel…’

  3. Good catch, ‘Grain. But just one item of note:

“…The rest of the world is an abstraction to him, a market to exploit; there is no other person in it who is real to him. They’re all supplicants or subjects, fans or haters, but their humanity is transparently not part of the equation. What other people might want, or indeed the fact that they could want at all, is crowded out of the picture by the corroded and corrosive bulk of his horrible self…”

That is all but the very technical description of a sociopath, is it not? Is it safe to start using the word yet? – I mean, I’m only asking because ‘narcissist’ seems to be obscenely understating.
