“We have to respect each other. Ideally, we have to love each other.”
…and then on Sunday:
Well, that’s kinda weird that during NO ELECTION of any kind Comrade Preznint Stupid would put up a campaign ad, you know, showing the faces of Brian Williams, Don Lemon, Joe Scarborough, Dana Bash, Chuck Todd, April Ryan, Chris Hayes, Fareed Zakaria, Rachel Maddow, Gloria Borger, Jake Tapper, John King, Mika Brzezinski, and George Stephanopoulos as the announcer says “the president’s enemies don’t want him to succeed.”
Most preznints try to heal the country after national tragedy. Comrade Preznint Stupid runs an ad highlighting his enemies list. Go figure. As Mike ‘Payola’ Allen says in this morning’s Axios email thingie:
He’s on the defensive, when he could be soaring
…and speaking of Hair Führer’s enemy list, let’s listen to Jake Tapper challenge the Both Sides Did It argument of White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert:
And good on you Jake.
Comrade Stupid has not condemned the KKK, the Nazis (let’s not call them Alt-Right) by name on the record yet.
Maggie Haberman, who has gotten under Comrade Stupid’s skin like few others at the NYTimes:
They are really dragging this out. Potus still hasn’t said this. https://t.co/JfsRNw6qAa

Let this one sink in for just a moment:
When I asked senior WH official why Trump didn’t condemn Cville Nazis, he said: “What about the leftist mob. Just as violent if not more so”

Brian Stelter cuts to the chase: “IS THIS A DEFINING MOMENT FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY?”
The White House did issue a statement doing so from a nameless spokesman yesterday. Tiger Beat asks the QUESTION OF THE DAY: Will the president do it today from D.C.? …and then later Tiger Beat answers its own question (Do they even read their newsletter):
LAST WEEK the White House indicated that there would be a press conference today. Trump’s schedule does not indicate he’s holding a media availability.
…so don’t expect a soaring statement today. That said, Mike Pence did issue a statement. And when a man so wooden that termites salivate when he enters a room gets ahead of the preznint, well your speculation is as good as mine. Anyway, says Pence:
“We have no tolerance for hate and violence from white supremacists, neo Nazis or the KKK. These dangerous fringe groups have no place in American public life and in the American debate, and we condemn them in the strongest possible terms.”
Boston Globe goes to Stormfront, and that alone should tell you what weird time we live in:
In blog posts after the violence, the Daily Stormer, a leading white nationalist website that promoted the Charlottesville event, pledged to hold more events.
‘‘We are going to start doing this nonstop,’’ the post said. ‘‘We are going to go bigger than Charlottesville. We are going to go huge.’’
I hate doing this, but the headline on Sunday’s Drudge Report (no link for obvious reasons): “MAKE AMERICA HATE AGAIN!”
And kids, that’s what weird today.
