And now, like Comrade Preznint Stupid’s well-oiled machine, the Republicans (the gang that cannot shoot straight) are pivoting to Tax Reform.
So watch your wallets, Scissorheads, serial incompetent Zombie-eyed Granny-starver Paul is looking for Ameros to pay for tax breaks for corporations!
To use the Senate’s bizarre and arcane budget reconciliation process, changes to the tax code must be revenue neutral for 10 years. So, to give tax breaks to his Pay Masters, Ryan has to find some way to make up for the lost revenue. His big, evil plan had been to steal it from the poors’ Medicare/Medicaid and that ended up in a pie-fight.
Until yesterday, Ryan and Comrade Preznint Stupid had a plan B: the so-called border-adjustment tax, which is basically, a tariff on imported goods. Walmart, who probably imports more landfill-bound crap from China than anyone else, opposed this idea and haven’t been shy at all about threatening telling members of Congress about their ability to fund a primary against them.
Yesterday, ZEGS conceded defeat and said there would be no border tax.
So how will a simple Ayn Rand Fanboi misanthrope like Ryan raise a trillion dollars in a way that can pass both chambers? Who knows! But for the past six months we’ve watched Wingnuttia try to do healthcare, and that was supposed to be the easy one.
UPDATE 1: ZEGS statement on the failure of Trickle-Down Healthcare Taxcuts for Billionaires (tagline: “When billionaires have more money, you’ll feel better”) and his pivot to tax reform:
“I am disappointed and frustrated, but we should not give up. I encourage the Senate to continue working toward a real solution that keeps our promise. We have so much work still to do, and the House will continue to focus on issues that are important to the American people. At the top of that list is cutting taxes for middle class families and fixing our broken tax code. I’m glad that members will now take time to hear directly from those they represent and make the case for historic tax reform that we intend to pursue in the fall.”
I suppose for the next six months we can expect the republicans to play Name That
TuneTax Cut.“I can cut taxes by 10%.”
“Ha, I can cut taxes by 15%”
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

How are they going to hear from us if they won’t answer their phones, go to their offices, hold town halls, clear their voice mail? I WISH they would take time to hear from us.

The answer, Karla, is in the statement: those they represent. Trust me, it ain’t us.

ZEGS knows that the only ones that even pretend to believe the horseshit he is spouting about “tax reform” are his donors and small number of GOP clueless. Everyone else is saying “No we didn’t vote for this.”
