Some Cream For Your Covfefe, Rep. Rodney Davis?

Making America Dumb Again

Well, if this doesn’t shoot the cake: Wingnuttia is now using the attack at the baseball practice to manipulate themselves into getting onboard the Trickle-Down Healthcare Bill. This is a strange story in Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Charlie!) that going by the title alone makes you think that it is about the attempt to strip Americans of our healthcare, but veers off into some sort of weird plea for comity (before stripping Americans of our healthcare? Yes.)

In the Senate this week, Republicans are scrambling for health care votes. In the House, they’re seeking to hash out a deal to get their fledgling appropriations process moving. And the congressional Russia probes in both chambers are moving full speed ahead with major hearings, as President Donald Trump continues lashing out at investigators…

…Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Rep. Rodney Davis of Illinois, who was on the practice field in Alexandria on Wednesday during the shooting, held up a piece of shrapnel that he had later found in his baseball bag.

“This is the reminder that all of us have that we have to take a step back in this country, we have to tone down this rhetoric, and we’ve got to come together as a nation, as Americans, and say enough is enough,” said Davis, a Republican.

Well, Rodney, not to put too fine a spin on this, but piss-off. People, hundreds of people, are shot everyday in this country, and you and the rest of your party always tell us that now is not the time to politicize these mass shooting events, and then you hold up shrapnel to politicize a particular mass shooting with the goal to get everyone to calm down and strip Americans of their healthcare… nicely?

We have to tone down this rhetoric? Good luck, Rep. Davis, with getting republicans to come together on this. His work is cut out for him since his peers are currently trolling for sympathy among their constituents and are using the event for political gain.

  2. This is a big twist to the usual response. Love how the NRA insisted it was the left’s fault, or the media. Anyone’s fault, but their own.

Well, suck it, Rep. Davis. You and your pals built this monster; now you live with the fucking consequences. Afraid, Mr. Davis? Good; you feel how the rest of us have felt as the country armed up, and you sat back and mouthed meaningless words.

the same week as the shooting we had the 2-year commemoration of the charleston church shooting and the 1-year anniversary of the pulse massacre. meanwhile, in the same week there were 262 deaths and over 550 injuries due to guns. but, suddenly, 5 republicans get shot and now we’re supposed to change attitudes and care? ryan movingly said ‘an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us’. tell that to all the other victims of gun violence last week, not just those in the political chamber in which you stood, mr. ryan. say it and mean it.
