Faith-Based Climate Change

Here’s your comprehensive climate change proposal: Let Jeebus deal with it!

Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI):

I believe there’s been climate change since the beginning of time. I think there are cycles.”

“Do I think that man has some impact? Yeah, of course. Can man change the entire universe? No. Why do I believe that? As a Christian, I believe that there is a creator, God, who’s much bigger than us. And I’m confident that, if there’s a real problem, he can take care of it.”

Walberg, by the way, gets a lot of Ameros from car manufacturing, and the energy industry. Just sayin’.

So I ask, whatever happened to the original pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps, Gawd looks after those who look after themselves? If you believe that Jeebus and his Pop will solve all our big, intractable problems, then that cuts us puny hooomins out of the equation; we have no agency except to create the problems in the first place?

Seems legit.

Maybe that bit about free will comes into play here, or even why The Big Guy gave us our big brains so we could solve these sorts of things on our own and quit bugging HIM about our problems?

Gawd called and said he’s busy working on a cure for childhood cancer and doesn’t have time to work on the climate right now.

Tengrain, you must stop expecting consistency from these nutjobs. Their worldview simply won’t allow it…

Well, I’m just going to lie down here & wait for Gawd to show up w/ a meal once I get hungry. That is how it works, right?
