‘Dazed and Recused’

Russian Clown Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III

When you look under the hood and see Russian clown Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III looking back at you

That’s the best headline of the morning – from the Economist.

Let’s try to recap: Then Senator and now AG Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III meets the Russian Ambassador (twice) and then lies about it under oath, which is a crime and has something like a minimum 5-year sentence. He has now recused himself “from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President”.

The Russian Usurper says/tweets:

“Jeff Sessions is an honest man. He did not say anything wrong. He could have stated his response more accurately, but it was clearly not intentional. This whole narrative is a way of saving face for Democrats losing an election that everyone thought they were supposed to win.

“The Democrats are overplaying their hand. They lost the election, and now they have lost their grip on reality. The real story is all of the illegal leaks of classified and other information. It is a total ‘witch hunt!'”

Sessions spox says, “Sessions did not meet with Kislyak as a Trump supporter but, rather, in his capacity as a member of the Armed Services Committee. One meeting was in September; the other in July, when Sessions was approached after an event on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention,” which as we all know, Russia always wants to talk to Alabama senators.

As I write this morning there is a call for Sessions to resign (140 members of Congress, all Dims and Bernie) and 44 for him to recuse himself (Dims and a few GOPers).

And of course, we have to have a Dumb Spice moment:

…and I think that brings us up to date.

The clown picture is most apt. There are certain lies that are so obvious and un-parseable that the effort to do so just makes one look more ridiculous. Sessions’ lies clearly fall into this category.

One also has to love the way in which Trump constantly harks back to his election “victory” as some kind of justification for all the nefarious shit that is coming to light. But what’s best is having a serial liar and dissembler describe his ignorant, racist, lying asshole AG as “an honest man.”

    Yeah, I’m tremendously reassured, Trump.

Jeff met with the Ambassador as a senator, you say?

    From Marketwatch.com:

The Trump administration says Attorney General Jeff Sessions was acting as a then-U.S. senator when he talked to Russia’s ambassador at an event during last year’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, but Sessions paid for convention travel expenses out of his own political funds and he spoke about Donald Trump’s campaign at the event, according to a person at the event and campaign-finance records.

It’s all fine, he simply inadvertently lied to Congress under oath. “He could have stated his response more accurately,” but he inadvertently chose not to. There’s simply no reason why he should recuse himself but in the end he inadvertently did. It’s such a shame too. Because without Sessions running the investigation we may never learn the true alternate facts of this situation. SAD.

Franken was interviewed last night on NPR:

He sent Beauregard a letter asking him, among other things, to reconcile his statements that:
    1) He did not remember what he talked about, and
    2) He did not talk about sanctions.

    Franken is a smart guy!

Franken is a genius. He deliberately asked the question such that there was no wiggle room on the answer. Of course, Sessions is a worm and worms wiggle. The rake hit Sessions right in the kisser.

  5. Big Bad Bald Bastard says:

What did Clinton’s Penis know at the time Sessions spoke with Kislyak?

Can’t wait till they get to the email part of the pageant.

  7. Retiredeng says:

I think the Russian ambassador was a delegate to the GOP convention.
