Activism: Recount in WI, PA and MI

There are groups calling for a recount of the vote in three Swing States:
Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Jill Stein and the Green party are getting the most press about this and have raised more money in their recount effort than they did during the general election.

“Close the barn door after the horse has bolted.”
Anon. American Idiom

I anxiously await the results of the recounts and I would be very happy to see the election of Donald Trump overturned – dancing in the streets happy. I’m not investing time, and energy working toward that goal.

They’re doing a great job. They have momentum, broad based support and a willing press to publicize their efforts. They don’t need my help.

Unfortunately even if they miraculously succeed in overturning the election they won’t fix the problem.

The problem is not that Donald Trump was elected.  His election is the result of the problem.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.”
Albert Einstein

I believe the problem is that the leaders of the Democratic Party are following a failed strategy – the Swing State Strategy. In my experience this strategy has proven to be remarkably effective in electing Republicans to the house, the Senate and the Executive. It worked for them in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016.

The Swing State Strategy is an abject failure for Democrats.

The Fifty State Electoral Strategy is proven to be effective in regaining political power for the left. In 2008 we won the house, the senate and the executive under Howard Dean’s leadership using the Fifty State Strategy.

It’s such an effective strategy we succeeded in electing a black man to the Presidency in an apparently rabidly racist country. (I can’t believe I wrote that line in reference to the United States.)

We need your help, your voice, your time and your hope.batgirlphone_still

The change we need is for the Democratic party to adopt the Fifty State Strategy. A strategy in which we work to gain votes in all fifty sates in all elections, local, state, Mid-Term national and Presidential elections.

This week I ask you to, please reach out to three members of the DNC listed in the 2016 DNC Membership List under the Activism tab above.

Call them and advocate for your choice for DNC Chair, and most importantly the Fifty State Electoral Strategy using the support letter template as a guide for message consistency.

Please invest 15 minutes of your day to making our country a place worth living in for yourself, your family, friend, lovers, children and grandchildren.

We can’t do it without you. Make the calls today, please.

Please, make the calls. We need you to help us speak truth to power.

(I’m going need a new hat. This one is feeling a little tight this morning. 😉

  2. Unfortunately I don’t see where the recount is going to change anything, but I heartily applaud the effort.

It gets under Trump’s oddly orange-hued skin, so I’m cool with it for that reason alone. I doubt that it will do much in practical terms but to reassure us and the world that the election wasn’t rigged (per lying liar’s Twitter conspiracy-theory claims) is important.

I read a post on Daily kOS that shows Clinton Down by a combined total of 80k votes (+/-).

    Here’s a state by state tally. http://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president

Clinton took Minnesota by a short hair. I’d love to see a recount there as well as Florida, Colorado, etc.

Forgive me for being monomaniacal but a fifty state strategy would probably have turned the tide.
