The South Needs A Little Help Getting It Up.

The Political Animal has a post up in which The (New) Confederacy is actually called out by name, so you see it is not just me*. Anyway, Nancy LeTourneau cites a 2014 Washington Monthly piece by Doug Mudor:

The essence of the Confederate worldview is that the democratic process cannot legitimately change the established social order, and so all forms of legal and illegal resistance are justified when it tries…
The Confederate sees a divinely ordained way things are supposed to be, and defends it at all costs. No process, no matter how orderly or democratic, can justify fundamental change.

This is exactly what is happening now. When I see amply be-chinned Mitch McConnell, the sitting Majority Leader, and a noted southern gentleman telling the first black president that he will not hold any hearings on any SCOTUS nominee, I see ugly racism. Mudor sees it as Republicans defending the social order (whites on top of everything), but we are saying the same thing. Mudor is just saying it with better manners.

    I thought we did that in 2008 and 2012.

    Call it birtherism, or the new confudderacy, or whatever. I see a bunch of spoiled children that haven’t go their way since the first time President Obama was elected. They have whined and pointed fingers to no avail and now they are crying and I think really near shitting themselves that the “boogy man’ Black President will affect their precious and stolen mahjority.
    As a former and current parent I find it especially disgusting to see grown up people behaving so.
    Washing them off with the hose before they are allowed back inside is cruel to children but these people think they are adults, perhaps it’s time to clean them up????
    Disgusting feces throwing animals.
