My Mother at age 80 spent several tens of thousands on food, power supplies for her and her husband in 1999 in preparation for Y2K. She could not be convinced by me or my brother that this was a stupid thing to do. It was in response to one of these jackasses, saying that it was the only way if she did not want to be a cannibal herself. Ammo was also purchased.
She died 4 years later and I inherited literally a ton of supplies. They were donated to a homeless shelter in Vegas, I kept the ammo and guns and shot it all off in Nevada. buried the guns and swore that when I get older I would never fall for this crap again.
