In Sunday’s NYT there is going to be an open letter to Amazon signed by over 900 authors, many of them best selling, who are protesting that company’s business practices.
It’s pretty astonishing when you think about what Amazon is doing.

I have boycotted Amazon since 2000. They did not do what they said they would and were proud of it. OK, it only cost me $2 more in shipping but they couldn’t be bothered to fake regret.

I think this may have been started when Steven Colbert started doing the “boycott Amazon” bits on his show.
Long live Colbert!

Amazon took it to the next WTF step by writing a bizarre letter to every selfpublished author in their system Friday night. This led to some hilarious remarks about amazon drunk texting and a couple of good blogs; http://heidicullinan.wordpress.com/2014/08/09/shut-up-amazon/ (and best phrase of weekend “cuckoo bananapants” is at Wendig’s blog) http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2014/08/09/in-which-amazon-calls-you-to-defend-the-realm/ and https://twitter.com/search?q=%23amazondrunktexts&src=tyah
