Dan Quayle: ahead of his time

“A Christian pastor recently recalled a time when “a Christian perspective ultimately brought the death penalty upon homosexuality” and suggested that Muppet characters Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy deserved the same for breaking with Chick-fil-A over the company’s opposition to LGBT rights.”

Wingnuttia has such a slim grasp on reality that nothing shocks me much anymore. In the early ’90s VP Dan “Potatoe” Quayle, who publicly fought the fictional character Murphy Brown for having a fictional baby out of wedlock seemed laughable at the time, but now would be taken completely in stride.

Funny but I can still recall when a Christian perspective precluded one from considering, let alone espousing, the death penalty for anyone.

But, I should like to see Kermit and Miss Piggy’s execution. Do you think they would be contemporary and choose lethal injection, or be traditional and burn them at the stake?
