David Broder Writes Another Column

I think someone at the home for elderly pundits needs to have a graham cracker and a nap.

The more President Obama examines our options in Afghanistan, the less he likes the choices he sees. But, as the old saying goes, to govern is to choose — and he has stretched the internal debate to the breaking point… It is evident from the length of this deliberative process and from the flood of leaks that have emerged from Kabul and Washington that the perfect course of action does not exist. Given that reality, the urgent necessity is to make a decision — whether or not it is right.

So, David, 8 years of Chimpy’s ever-changing strategy, and finally leaving a quagmire for the next guy to fix, and you were silent. Now that the next guy is there, he cannot even have time to think it through?

  4. SkinnyDennis says:

    from Wikipedia;
    During an interview in 1996, David Broder said that “It’s clear that some journalists now are in a market category where the amount of money that they can make on extracurricular activities raises, in my mind, exactly, and, clearly, in the public’s mind, exactly the same kind of conflict-of-interest questions that we are constantly raising with people in public life. . . ”
    In June, 2008, however, Harper’s magazine reported that David Broder had accepted free accommodations and thousands of dollars in speaking fees from various business and healthcare groups, in one instance penning an opinion column supporting positions favored by one of the groups.

  6. Bruce388 says:

    Has anyone ever seen Broder and James J. Kilpatrick in the same place? Is Kilpatrick still alive? Is Broder?

  7. broder forget to wipe again! oh the problems of being the oldest journalist

  8. Batocchio says:

    And he even used Cheney’s “dithering.” I know this one has been well covered, but I might write on it later. Even for Broder, it’s idiotic and unconscionable.

    • Tengrain says:

      Bat –

      I usually don’t pay much attention to Broder (does anyone?) but this went just got my hackles raised. The whole idea of just doing something, anything, even if it is wrong astonished me. He’s such a tool.
