My Favorite Day Of The Year: B.A.D.

Woot-woot! My pal Skippy reminded me that it’s Blogroll Amnesty Day, Scissorheads!

Now I like to think every day is B.A.D, and last year Mock, Paper, Scissors linked to every blog in our blogroll 10 times (I counted), but today is special because of the history of B.A.D., essentially that some of the so-called A-List bloggers gave themselves amnesty for cutting off of their blogrolls all of the non A-List bloggers. Sort of like a clique in high school.

(As Driftglass said of the MSM, “There is a club. You are not in it.)

And so there came to be a rebel alliance of all of the rest of Blogtopia (and yes, Skippy did coin that phrase) and thus we celebrate the anniversary of the Day of Long Knives every year.

The rules are simple:

  1. you are not allowed to complain or mention your blog’s low traffic until you have been posting daily for a year.
  2. If you’re little, link other blogs that are new or still growing their audience, and encourage them to practice their craft daily.
  3. Then, show them how.

The Prime Directive of B.A.D. is to link to 5 blogs that have less traffic than your blog (and how you are supposed to know that remains a mystery) that you think deserve more traffic. And maybe some blog bigger than yours will link to you. But the point is this: solidarity amongst the smaller, independent voices because we are writing some of the best work on the internet.

So without further a-do, I’m linking to the following 5 blogs chosen at random from the blogroll:

Every one of them is a proven winner – now go read them and give 5 blogs some linky-luv. That’s an order from the “Godfather of Small Blogs” as the Big Bad Bald Bastard calls me. (See what I did there?)

It’s That Time Of The Month Again…

…in which we give a shout out to the MPS blogroll. Why do we do it, you ask? Because we always liked *YOU* best!

Actually, we recognize that everyone likes to be linked now and then, and because it increases your Google ranking and allegedly give you a bump in Technorati’s Authority (if anyone still uses that thing) the more often you are linked.

If you want to be included in the fun next month, all you need to do is to follow our blogroll guidelines: put MPS in your blogroll, and we will put your blog in ours (Caveat: commercial websites are NOT included).

And now, on to the links!

It’s That Time of The Month Again

It’s time once again to give some linky-luv to the blogroll, because everyone loves to be linked now and then, and because it helps all blogs when they are linked. It increases something that The Googles calls relevance and it increases Technorati ratings for each of the blogs listed below.

Our monthly friend

It’s that time of the month again (already?) when we at Mock, Paper, Scissors salutes the fine contributors to our Blogroll.

“Why do you do that ‘Grain?,” you ask.

Because we like you! We really like you! Everyone likes to get a little link-luv now and then, and it helps to improve your Google authority rating, and allegedly it works to increase your Technorati score.

Our blogroll policy is stolen from the late, great Jon Swift: we will link to you if you link to MPS. But remember: I always liked YOU best!

The US military is developing software that will let it secretly manipulate social media sites by using fake online personas to influence internet conversations and spread pro-American propaganda.

It will work, of course, until Atrios declares blogroll amnesty again and cuts the sockpuppets off.

It’s that time of the month again

Folks –

In honor of Jon Swift (RIP Al, I still cannot believe you are gone), I thought that I would do the monthly blogroll post this weekend.

What’s that, you say?

It’s where we at Mock, Paper, Scissors say thank you to all of the wonderful people who come by and visit every now and then. While I try to visit every blog on the list, some months it just doesn’t happen, so I like to link to everyone at least once a month.

Why’s that, you say?

Because everyone likes getting a link. It improves your Technorati ranking, and The Google considers websites that get linked to be more valuable than those that don’t. This gives all of your blogs a boost in the ratings. It does NOT give MPS anything, except for the pleasure of knowing we are helping all of our buddies.

So, without further ado, thank you for all your support and stopping by to spend some time here with the Scissorheads. If I left anyone out, it was an honest mistake! Please leave a note in the comments, and I will get it fixed for next month. And remember, I always liked you best.
