The Afternoon Quote

“We believe that [Obamacare] is going to collapse under its own weight… This to us is something that we’re not going to give up on, because we’re not going to give up on destroying the health care system for the American people.”

–Paul Ryan

  1. Thank you, you pile of scat. Thank you for admitting that you have no use for “the people” and don’t really care about them.
Soooooo….. what exactly do you get out of this, Paulie R?

  2. I see, so the 200 million you are using to offset spending —using for so-called deficit reduction in that stupid budget document of your, yo remember that? Well that was saving realized since this Obamacare thing went into effect, you lying sack of poop.

  3. Steve-O: I’m guessing a do-nothing six-figure job for the wife–she was a tax lawyer, I believe. Probably guaranteed admittance to their school o’ choice for the little Ryans. Cushy nepotism slotted jobs/internships after college, then they can choose the lobbying firm they want to make mid-six figures at while in their twenties.

    But that’s just a guess.

    • Pissed – I mentioned this the other night, but I’ll repeat myself (again, heh)

One of the great, unremarked truths about Congressman Ryan is that his family is fantastically wealthy; they are one of the largest industrialists in the Midwest. His father and his two brothers were the heirs of a construction company that quite literally built all the airports (O’Hare included) and most of the roads and freeways in the entire upper midwest. Though his father died when he was young (he was the legal department for the construction firm, though not managing the construction itself) and thus the mythology of penniless Paul being raised on the public dole was created (perfectly legal for him to get SS survivor benefits even though it was profoundly unneeded), all of his family are millionaires tens of times over.

His wife is the only child of an oil tycoon from Oklahoma and is estimated to have (already) about a $10M net worth that will only increase when the old man dies. She was also a lobbyist and was well-paid, and I believe she was at one point a banker or a lawyer or both, but I could be wrong on that.

The Ryans studiously avoid talking about their respective wealth because it destroys his street cred with Wingnuttia who do not want to be associated with aristocracy, but make no mistake about it: they are fantastically wealthy from inherited money and of course all the trappings that Congressional privilege gives one (bribes and graft, usually).

  4. News flash you little Randian puke, for the millions of us that can’t afford any meaningful health insurance the system was destroyed long ago.

Go ahead, Punk, make my day
