It must be Prom season again

Conservative talk show host and Xristian Xrazie Janet Mefferd looked to a public Indiana High school that has some kids who wanted to have a straights-only, Xristians-only Prom:

Everything is so upside down in our society now and right and wrong have completely switched where what is really wrong is to say you shouldn’t have two boys allowed to go to the high school prom. Now we can get into a big issue of the public schools are morally bankrupt at this point and we all ought to exit and just let them, let them do their thing, and that may be the ultimate answer; on the other hand, I feel for these Christian kids who are in a prom or kids who are at this high school who say, ‘you know something, do we have to go down this road?’ Whether the homosexual activists like it or not, and I know this isn’t politically correct to say this, but not everybody wants to see that. I know that that’s offensive to the activist crowd, they want us all to see it, they want us all to approve of it, they want us all to call it blessed and okay and rejoice and have parties and throw confetti in the air over this whole thing. But the fact of the matter is it’s a moral issue. You will always have Christians who will disagree with this and why should the rights of the activists trump the rights of Christians?

As Fran Lebowitz once said, “Your right to wear a mint-green polyester leisure suit ends where it meets my eyes.” The difference, of course, between fashion (and snarky humor) and kids being told that they are not worthy are vast.

  1. And the rub is, no one is stopping those kids from renting out a hall, hiring a DJ, hanging poorly glittered cardboard stars from the rafters, and ordering appetizers all on their own dime to have a Christian extravaganza. But to suckle money from the teat of the taxpayers for a separate, exclusive, dare I say elitist, dance party USA? You’d think some teabagger someplace would be against it.

But if you have it’s through the school, then everyone at school is invited.

  2. I am constantly amazed at how oppressed the Christian Right is in not being allowed to violate the Constitution and discriminate against others. Their right to deny other people’s rights- in particular the gay- is a right that is being oppressed and that we- the good people of Murica- allow this to happen… shame. Just shame.
Of course, the make believe person who I follow is Gandalf, and played with short people, so who am I to judge?

  3. And remember, if you’re LGBT you’re an activist.
It’s not that you simply want to be treated the same as others, but you have a “gay agenda.”
Worse, you’re doing this to convert others to your gay agenda.
You made a decision to be gay and it’s ruining our party.
Just like your gay marriages ruin ours.

    Ack!
I always wonder at what age these people “decided” to be straight?

  4. Billy Bob – If you follow the link and listen to the school Special Ed teach (and self-appointed guidance counselor), your head will explode.

Ted – Give my regards to anyone who remembers me at Bag End.

GRS – yes, the sweet, sweet public money is OK when it is being spent on discriminating against the people the Teabaggers don’t like.

  5. It’s refreshing to realize how open-minded the special ed teacher is? She has no concept of how teh gays fit into our life plans? Yikes. Christianity needs to have a look in the mirror and see what’s xian about their warped, hurtful point of view.

  6. “We want to make the public see that we love the homosexuals, but we don’t think it’s right nor should it be accepted,” said a local student.

Why the hell do they even make a pretense of saying shit like this. It’s condescending as hell, and they’re not fooling anyone?
