Because you-know-who and the grifters will be out in force.
Adbusters, promoters of “Buy Nothing Day” since 1997, have been trying to rename it “Occupy Xmas” to reference the Occupy Movement which they were also instrumental in instigating. If they succeed, can’t you just imagine those “War On Christmas” harpies going off the deep end?
My Black Friday ritual is to go to walmart and fill up several baskets and leave them in various location around the store(buy nothing). Each basket represents about one person-hour of restocking time. If I take a friend, we can create one full work day for a walmart employee.
I can’t raise the pay of walmart employes, but I can make sure they get some more hours. Please join me in the “full basket” campaign to keep walmart busy (but less profitable).
Here are a couple of tips. Stay away from perishable food. We don’t want anyone to get sick. Park your full baskets in the busiest departments like electronics. Take your last basket to the front of the store and ask the checkout supervisor to watch your basket while you run to the car to get you wallet–and don’t come back.
This is a civilly disobedient response to walmart’s greed. It hurts walmart on labor cost. It helps employees get more hours, and it feels so good to strike a blow for economic justice. And you don’t have to limit it to Black Friday!

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Exxxxxxcellent!
