We don’t do thoughtful analysis at MPS

We do vulgar bump-and-grind victory dances in the end-zone.

Here’s the thing: The Stench started off by telling 47% of us to go f*** ourselves; the GOP then told 51% of the population to get raped and have the baby. At the convention and beyond, the GOP’s best fetus-fondling God-bothers told 10% of the population that you are not “real” people and could not get married. Then, as the cherry on top, the GOP told the fastest growing demographic that they were going to check their papers any time that they see someone who doesn’t look American, whatever that means.

Is anyone surprised that for the most part the old Confederacy went for Willard?

Our pal SoyBlo got it exactly right in 2008 when she told her party that they have already lost the battles of the future.

What we are seeing is a dinosaur party thrashing about in the tar pits not realizing that their fate is already sealed.

This was an epic beat-back: more women won election to the Senate than ever before, including an openly gay woman. Marriage Equality passed at the ballot box in three states (Maggie Gallagher is weeping as she defiles yet another Crucifix, Exorcist-style); and soon you will be able to smoke dope in public in Colorado and Washington.

It was a night of progress, but our work is just beginning. All the pressure has to continue. Now is not the time to become complacent.

But do enjoy today, and for gawd’s sake: spike the ball in the end-zone, and start doing your most tasteless dance of unbridled joy! We won the right to be bad winners!

High-five to Scissorhead Matty Boy for getting the electoral college and states exactly right using Math. Dude is a genius.

  1. “dinosaur party thrashing about in the tar pits” That sums it up.

Along with Soyblo, Senatorette Graham acknowledged there aren’t enough angry old white guys to keep the GOP in business. And that’s a Good Thing.

  2. Late last night whilst waiting for the Contenders’ speeches, I
    - poured meself a fistfull of whisky on ice
    - Got the feed from Obama’s Party HQ on one tab and Romney’s Non-Party HQ on the other.
    - Cranked up the volume on the Obama tab, but watched the Romnesiacs mope about on the other

    A strangely enjoyable experience

    Also,
the LA Times editorial hits many of the right notes today – “we are not just a nation of self-reliant cowboys, but a diverse, multiracial society”

  3. Complacent? Progressive? Somehow, in California, the supposed most liberal state in the union, we still love the death penalty. And somehow, over 49% of the population of these United States voted for Romney, Racism, and wealth transfers to the Rich.

Welcome to MPS, it is good to have you with us.

I’m a native Californian, and I was puzzled by it, too. But I do have some possible insight. I have believed ever since Carter gave his concession speech before the polls closed on the West Coast, that we suffer from the East Coast media calling the election early. They had already gotten to very near the magic electoral college number before 5 PM here, and we had three more hours to vote.

I would like to see some data showing the time dispersal of election day voting. My bet is that the numbers drop way off in the late afternoon. I also bet that our percentage of voters is low.

  4. Please, please, please no angst and naval-gazing over helping the Repukes find their way and reaching out to them in bipartisan goodwill. They’re scum and I’m tired of being reasonable with them. They lie, they bargain in bad faith, they cheat, they move the goalposts, they’re thugs, hypocrites, God-botherers and sociopaths. Fuck em in every orifice. I hope they never figure out to build a successful party again and they keep fading into oblivion.

Who said anything about helping them? I want to salt the earth after we’re done with them.

I am saying, however, that we need to light a fire under the Dims and make them do the things that we want them to do. That’s my unity of purpose is to not go complacent.

      Regards,

      TG
